The saucer is based on the principle of FGMs - Functionally Graded Materials. Functionally graded materials are finely graded granules that exhibit a spatial variation in composition, microstructure and density in order to eliminate the entire range of spurious resonances and thus successfully counteract component interactions.

Functionally Graded Materials – FGM -- Functionally Graded Materials FGM describes a functional material which, thanks to its special properties, can be used wherever material resonances, microphonic or spurious vibrations restrict the precise functioning of active components. Functional materials are materials that are used because of their special properties and often represent the heart of a component in use. Typical applications of FGM can be found in electrical engineering, optics, medical technology or sensor technology. The FGMs designed for the audio technology are largely responsible for the faithful reproduction of the information stored in a record groove across the entire audio chain.

Speed, dynamics, fine detail, musicality and power increase significantly when FGMs are used in a targeted manner.
